Belgrade Area Chapter

Untitled document

Welcome to the Belgrade Chapter website!  The city of Belgrade was born in 1886 on the Minnesota prairie when the Minneapolis and Pacific Railroad Company built its tracks through the townsite on its way from Minneapolis to North Dakota.

Belgrade has two state highways that pass through the town.  They are Highway's 71 and 55.  It is also home to the World's Largest Crow which is located on Highway 71 on the southern  edge of Belgrade.  The crow is 43 feet high and is encricled by a memorial wall with individual bricks with the names of the towns decendants on them.  There are also flags of all 50 states and many European nations from which settlers have come to Belgrade.

Belgrade is located in Central Minnesota in Stearns County.  We are on the southern edge of Stearns County right next to Kandiyohi County.  According to the United States Geological Survey there are 166 lakes in Stearns County and another 88 in Kandiyohi County so there are plenty of fishing spots to pick from.

Some of the lakes that we plan to use on a regular basis are Games, Andrew,  Norway, Green, Koronis, Long by Hawick, Fairy and Minnewaska.  Some of these are excellent not only for fishing, but for boating excursions as well.  Several of these lakes have public parks and campgrounds that make for excellent opportunities to picnic along with fishing.

The Belgrade Chapter feels that this is a great opportunity not only for Seniors in our community, but for the Belgrade Nursing Home Residents as well.
