Sleepy Eye's first scheduled outing June 14, 2005: the C.C. Chicks Red Hat group. The first fish was caught by Velma; it wasn't a keeper, but who cares?
Larry Evers, President. Larry is a Sleepy Eye native, currently employed in maintenance at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Larry and his wife Diane have one son, Danny, and a grandson, Caden. Larry is active in the Sleepy Eye Sportsmen's Club and enjoys fishing and hunting.
ShellyRae Zinniel, Secretary. ShellyRae is a native of Sanborn. She is employed at Divine Providence Nursing Home as Activity Director. ShellyRae and her husband Randy live in Sleepy Eye and have 2 daughters.
Lorraine Schroepfer, Treasurer. Lorraine was born in New Ulm, the 11th of 13 children, who are all now "55 and over" and able to enjoy FREE pontooning. Lorraine was married in 1962, widowed in 1973, remarried in 1979. His, mine and ours totals 11 children and 26 grandchildren. Lorraine is now retired from the Sleepy Eye Care Center where she worked for 18 years. Hobbies include family, quilting, crochet, travel, fishing with spouse, and an annual week at the lake with the WHOLE family where they have an "Unbirthday Party" for all the grandchildren. Lorraine is happy to be volunteering to bring so much joy to Seniors. She has been on the pontoon as a volunteer, as a patron with Red Hats Club, and as an employee in charge of Senior Outings. This program is a blessing all around. June 10, 2012, we were blessed with our first great-grandchild: Evan James Carrier
We had a "Name the pontoon" contest. The pontoon's official name is "The Chief's Pride". Some people may not realize that "Sleepy Eye" was a Native American Chief with drooping eye lids: in Native American ISH TAK HA BA. We had more than 50 entries/submissions. The name "The Chief's Pride" which was voted in by the active trained volunteers, refers back to the origin of the city's settlement
