Montevideo Area Chapter

Welcome to Let's Go Fishing - Montevideo Chapter

The Montevideo Area Chapter is one of the newest chapters in Western Minnesota, gearing up to begin outings for seniors in early July, 2006

Montevideo is located about 120 miles west of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area on Highway 7.  With a community population of 7640, the beautiful city is located at the confluence of the Minnesota and Chippewa River Valleys.  Our All-American community is the county seat of Chippewa County and is surrounded by a rich agricultural industry featuring primarily corn, soybeans, and sugar beets.  A strong retail business community and several large industry like Jennie-O and Friendship Homes provide shopping and job opportunities for hundreds of area residents.

The Montevideo Area Chapter will take most of our Let's Go Fishing with Seniors outings on Lac Qui Parle Lake and the Minnesota River.  Lac Qui Parle Lake and the Lac Qui Parle State Game Refuge area provide a wonderland for a variety of wildlife.  Excellent fishing on Lac Qui Parle include walleyes, northern pike, crappies, silver bass, and catfish.  The Minnesota River is a picturesque area with great catfish and walleye fishing.

To schedule your Let's Go Fishing with Seniors outing int he Montevideo Area, contact the Montevideo Community Education Office at 320-269-5026.  Outings can be scheduled on Wednesdays or Thursdays throughout the summer  months.
