The Lakes Area Chapter serves seniors in eastern Hubbard County and North Central Cass County including the communities surrounding Walker, Hackensack and Longville.
We are a non-profit 501 © (3) organization whose mission it is to enrich the lives of seniors citizens and youth, through fishing and boating activities. There is no fee for our services, we operate entirely with volunteer staff and contributions stay local to fund our senior boating activities. Since our 2007 start-up, we’ve taken hundreds of local seniors fishing and boating on our fully equipped, custom pontoon carefully designed with senior comfort, safety and security in mind. Weather permitting, we schedule trips all spring, summer and fall. Many of our guests live in residential care facilities. During 2010 we partnered with local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult group homes, churches, different senior organizations, youth camps, Kinship and the general public to provide a wide range of boating and fishing adventures. Our fully trained staff of local volunteers have logged thousands of hours serving our senior community. This year we hope to extend additional fishing opportunities to local area young people... as we launch an “intergenerational program” designed to pair seniors with children.
