Lakes Area ChapterHackensack Outing The Lakes Area Chapter of Let's Go Fishing came together in the fall of 2007. We were very warmly greeted by all of the communities that we will be serving. We are a combined effort of Hackensack, Longville, and Walker. Our goal is to reach as many seniors as possible in these areas, getting them on the lakes either to fish, or just to enjoy our beautiful North Country. During the 2008 season we hope to reach this goal by becoming more visible, and by getting the word out about this marvelous organization to as many seniors as possible. Our target date to kick off this season is May 1st on Birch Lake in Hackensack, Minnesota. Because we are a combination of three communities we have access to a large number of lakes in the area, as well as seniors. Hackensack is known for being the home of Paul Bunyan's sweetheart, "Lucette." We have "Sweetheart Days" in July to celebrate the wedding of Paul and Lucette. For those who are unaware, they have a son, Paul Jr. You can visit Lucette and Paul Jr. at the Hackensack city park any time. The city of Longville is famous for their weekly Turtle Races in the downtown area throughout the entire summer season. They attract hundreds of people from all over the area. It is quite the event to watch. They even have turtles for those people who were unlucky in trying to catch their own for the races. Walker is famous for many things. Its most popular event in the winter is the "Eelpout Festival." Leech Lake is virtually transformed into an amazing new city. It really boggles the imagination to see so much attention, and all the people out on the lake making a big "fuss" for such an ugly fish. So if you want to go fishing on the area lakes, or just want to have a relaxing pontoon ride, please contact us at 218-675-FISH(3474). We will be happy to make arrangements for you. | ||||||||||||||||
