Starting the Chapter and First Year
In the early winter of 2009 the first meeting was held presenting Let's Go Fishing with Seniors to interested individuals. Throughout the winter, the ground work was started to determine if a chapter should be started in this area.
2010 Summary Report
2010 was a very good year for the Stillwater area chapter. In 3 1/2 months, 509 people were served. There were 60 trips and 213 people fished.
These trips were staffed by teams from our 35 trained captains and 1st mates who volunteered their time to this program. They made our guests feel welcomed, cared for and provided them with historical information about the St. Croix River.
We thank our sponsors who financially made it possible to have a chapter. Please see the list of sponsers on this same web site.
For 2011, the Board is expecting the number of guests served to increase to the 1000 to 1500 range. Part of this is due to developing a program to serve and get assistance from the developmentally disabled group in the Stillwater Area. This is an exciting opportunity for both organizations. We look forward to growing this relationship.
Because of the expected increases in guests, we will need more captains and 1st mates. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us at (651) 707-5181 or Stillwater@lgfws.com. Descriptions of those positions and others within the chapter are listed in the Volunteer Positions, under the News header for this chapter.
Weather permitting, we will start trips on Monday, May 16th, 2011 and end on Thursday, October 13th, 2011. Contact us for further details.
See you on the water!
