We had a very fun time Monday night going around the lake.  We will tell everyone about it and hope you have a full summer.  We had a good supper after with the crew.  Thank you, thanks you for thinking of us. Thanks Butch, Jackie and Terry it was fun.

A great fishing program

To the editor:

My wife, Eileen, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful Let’s Go Fishing program for seniors. We spent three glorious hours on Lake Minnewaska on July 5, along with our good friends, Jim and Dolores Larson, from Alexandria.Eileen and I were the only two fishing as Jim and Dolores went along for the ride. We’ve never been treated so royally as the volunteers on the pontoon not only baited our hooks but removed the fish and placed them in the live well. When the pontoon docked back in the Starbuck Marina, Eileen and I received 20 sunfish, two largemouth bass and one crappie to take home with us. After we filleted the fish, we shared our bounty with Jim and Dolores and had several delicious fish dinners. On July 27, the four of us booked passage once again on the pontoon. We were told that this day, the pontoon was going to go completely around Lake Minnewaska on a three-hour cruise. Once again, we were most appreciative of the volunteers and the organization for providing seniors such a glorious time. We hope to do another fishing trip in the fall.I most certainly endorse the Let’s Go Fishing program. It would be great if we could get this program in the Alexandria Chain of Lakes area.William S.  Outing with Mr. Floyd Dodie Pope Counties Oldest Fisherman...

1)   I ASKED HIM IF HE TOOK A NAP TODAY. (WE FISHED FROM 6pm TO 8:30pm).    HE SAID " NO NAP TODAY- I WAS TO EXCITED ABOUT GOING FISHING.

2) I ASKED HIM HOW LONG HE HAS BEEN FISHING.  " I GUESS EVER SINCE I CAN REMEMBER" WE FIGURE THAT IS OVER 100 YEARS AS HE WILL BE 106 IN MARCH 2007.

3)WHEN HIS DAUGHTER LOIS DROPPED HIM OFF AND GOT HIM TO BED- " THAT WAS THE BEST TIME I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME- WHEN CAN WE GO AGAIN? "

 4) AS FISHING ACTION SLOWED I ASKED HIM WHAT THE BIGGERST FISH HE HAD EVER CAUGHT-   " I CAUGHT A 20 LB NORTHERN FROM SHORE IN TEN MILE LAKE- AND EVERYONE FORM TOWN WAS COMING OUT TO SEE IT WHEN THE WORD GOT TO TOWN !   ( THE BEST PART OF THIS IS THAT I NOTICED HE WASN'T CONSERN WITH FISHING FOR A FEW MINUTES AS HE RELIVED AND TOLD AN INTERESTED FELLOW FISHERMAN HIS STORY. REMEMBERING THE PAST SUCCESSES ARE A FUN PART OF THE FISHING OUTTING.) HE FISHED THE ENTIRE 2 AND 1/2 HOURS - WITH ONLY A SHORT 5 MINUTE BREAK TO STRECH HIS ARM THAT WAS FALLING ASLEEP!
